Animation Art Comes to New Jersey
Barnegat, NJ—Unshredded Nostalgia is proud to
announce that its poster gallery has been chosen to
display the never-before-seen Dick Bartley
Collection of Animation Art. The exhibit, which will
run from November 28 thru February, 2005 will
feature animation cells illustrating the world’s
most popular characters from Disney, Warner
Brothers, Hanna Barbera and Kellogg’s.
The Bartley Collection of Animation Art
features over 100 original production hand-drawn
cells that were used in motion-picture movies,
television cartoons and shows and various
advertising mediums. The characters are drawn on a
piece of clear plastic called celluloid, while the
background is drawn on paper and is attached
underneath the cell.
All cells include the normal provenance, plus
a special Certificate of Authenticity that has been
autographed and signed by Dick Bartley and
Unshredded Nostalgia proprietor Jim Episale. Many
cells are also signed and dated by the original
artist as well as the production company that
produced them.
Dick Bartley was named one of America’s top 25
most influential syndicated radio personalities in
2002, is a three-time winner of the Billboard Radio
Award as host/producer of the Adult Contemporary
Program of the year, and was inducted into the
National Radio Hall of Fame in 2000.
“I started collecting animation art 25 years
ago because it brought back countless memories of my
childhood,” laments Dick Bartley. “I grew up during
the cartoon kid-generation and I will always
remember and cherish what the characters in the
cells said and did.”
Unshredded Nostaligia’s metropolitan-style
poster gallery opened to the public last year and
has showcased four exhibits, including original
movie posters and the current Horror and Sci-Fi.
Since 1978 Unshredded Nostalgia has housed an
eclectic mix of 17th through 20th century antiques,
collectibles, paper and advertising items including
over 2,000 historical documents, thousands of photo
archives depicting Hollywood celebrities, musicians
of all genres, sports legends, and world leaders.
Other items include first edition books, classic
magazines, legal and illegal casino memorabilia,
antique jewelry, glassware, and collector dolls.
“Animation art has always been one of my
favorite collectibles,” says proprietor and resident
researcher Jim Episale.” It’s something that all of
us, both young and old, can share, enjoy and
treasure, because movies and cartoons are timeless.
They always bring a smile to my face and my
family’s.”
